I'm trying to understand why I do not have access to a sub-folder in my 'Downloads' folder. The folder in question has the following rights: drw-r-r- 29 laurent staff 986B Feb 20 14:06 Example and whoami gives 'laurent'. So as I understand, anybody can view this folder and I am the owner. 4. Attempt installing the program.

Solution 2: Mac OS 10.3 (and up) Users

Solution 3: All Mac OS 10.x.x Users

Create a new user account with administrator rights.

1. From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
2. Choose View > Users.
3. Click New User.
4. Click the Identity tab. Enter a name for the user account in the Name and Short Name text boxes.
5. Click the Password tab. Enter a password in the Password and Verify text boxes.
6. Select Allow User to Administer this Computer, and then click Save.
7. When prompted, click Turn Off Automatic Login.
8. Attempt installing the program.
